Breed history in brief
Arabian Stray Dogs have a long history dating back more than 12,000 years in Israel. These dogs were highly valued by their owners, to the point of being buried with them. The dogs adapted to various roles such as garbage cleaners, guardians or family companions, while maintaining their freedom. Originally the Arabian Stray Dogs from Israel spread to Africa and Europe where they were bred and developed into a large part of the modern dog breeds. The dogs that remained in the Middle East acquired the appearance of today's Saluki.
Arabian Street Dogs are known as "outdoor" dogs, as they are dogs that usually live in the wild around human settlements. They are not dogs bred by breeders although they should be more valued for their historical and genetic background.
Breed characteristics
It is not possible to establish a breed standard with the distinctive characteristics of the breed, as they predate modern breeds and have a wide variety of coat shapes and lengths, size or colors.
Common health problems
There is limited information available on the health problems of the Arabian Stray. However, like all dogs, they may have a certain disposition to certain genetic disorders, so their owners should provide regular veterinary care.
