Order the genetic test for your pet by clicking on "buy".

Once you have purchased the DNA test for your pet, you will see a form where you can fill in the necessary details so we can send the kit to the location you provide.

Once you have your pet's test, you must register it online.

Once you have your pet's DNA kit, we recommend that the first thing you do, even before collecting its saliva sample, is to create an account to register it. This is done from the QR code you will find in the instruction booklet or through the website www.kokogenetics.com/welcome. Choose which kit you have received between the two options, Tube and swabs or Swab and drying bag. Once done, when you fill out the form, the kit will be registered along with the completed details. In the registration* of the kit, you need to enter the registration code, which you will find attached to the instructions. Once the registration is complete, we will send you an email as soon as possible with a link and instructions on how to send your pet's saliva sample to the laboratory.

*Samples that arrive unregistered cannot be analysed.

Collect the saliva sample.

With the kit registered, the next step is collecting the animal’s saliva sample. The tube kit includes three swabs for easy collection. The drying bag kit contains a single specialized swab, the rapiDri. In both cases, the swab should be passed inside the animal’s mouth, touching the inner cheeks to collect as much saliva and cells as possible. Be careful not to let the animal bite or try to swallow it. The animal should not drink, eat, or chew anything 30 minutes before the test. In the tube product, when you deposit the swabs, ensure the liquid fully covers the ends with saliva to protect the DNA. In the drying bag product, store the swab in the bag, first inserting the white tip without touching any surface so it remains in the drying area. Tubes can be kept at room temperature.

When you have registered the kit and collected your pet's saliva, the next step is to send us the sample. If it is the tube and swabs kit, print the label we sent by email after registration and stick it on the outside of the plastic bag in your kit. Then, place the tube with the swabs in the cardboard box, and then put the box inside the bag. If it is the swab and drying bag kit, once you have sealed the drying bag with the barcode, there are two options. If you have a cardboard envelope, place the drying bag inside and then put the new cardboard envelope inside the transparent bag, with the shipping label inside so that the code is visible from the outside, to send as a letter. If you have a box, place the drying bag inside, put the box in the shipping bag, and stick the label on the outside for return. In both cases, once your package is ready, take it to the courier office indicated in the email.

The average time to deliver the results, from the moment we receive the sample in the laboratory until we perform the analysis, is 4 to 6 weeks. Once we have the results, we will contact you to let you know that both you and your pet can access them using the user account created in the client area of the website. If there is any information that you do not want to know about your pet that we provide, you will have the option to block it from being visible in the results.
