Information Updates and Sample Repetition Policy:

The goal of Koko Genetics is to provide access to genetic information for every dog and their owner worldwide through an internet-connected device, allowing them to share it with their trusted healthcare professional. To achieve this, we have developed a platform that stores, interprets, and updates genetic information.

At Koko Genetics, we perform large-scale genotyping to gather relevant clinical information. We currently use the Thermo Fisher Scientific Axiom Canine HD Array, which contains approximately 710,000 markers. As technology advances, we may be able to utilize larger genotyping chips or whole-genome sequencing, providing more up-to-date and new information.

We will continue to support previous versions of the chip used, and the chip version used will be indicated in the user's private area.

Sample Repetition and Result Acquisition Conditions:

Koko Genetics is committed to delivering results to all users and their pets.

In most cases, a single saliva sample is sufficient to obtain results. However, in rare instances, it may be necessary to obtain a new sample due to low DNA concentration and/or poor quality that does not meet the minimum quality criteria for reliable results. This is typically due to improper sample collection or difficulties in obtaining the sample (dryness, infections, medication use, or various medical conditions).

If the first extraction and genotyping process does not yield results, Koko Genetics will contact you via e-mail to offer you the possibility of repeating the sample collection, DNA extraction and analysis on the Thermo Fisher Scientific® genotyping array free of charge. You also have the option to request a full refund, with the exception of the shipping and handling fee (50€). You have 3 months from receipt of notification of this situation by e-mail to respond to us with your choice. If we do not receive a response within that period of time, we will consider the sample void and will not be able to refund or repeat the process for free.

Repeating the sample collection, DNA extraction, and analysis does not guarantee satisfactory results. In exceptional cases, it may be necessary to obtain a blood sample if saliva or buccal swab samples do not yield results. Koko Genetics does not provide blood sample collection services.

The sample analysis can be repeated up to three times. The costs of the analysis for the third sample will be borne by the customer. A fourth analysis will not be repeated. In such cases, the amount paid for the analysis will be refunded minus handling and shipping fees.

Minimum quality criteria for samples:

1. Higher DNA concentration obtained: 50 ng/µl

2. Quality of the sample obtained: Call rate > 0.95
